Our Favourite Christmas Tracks

Christmas playlist

If you've been in the shop this month you would have heard our Christmas playlist. With a heavy dose of indie rock'n around the Christmas tree mixed with some poppy festive bangers, it's the kind of Christmas playlist that doesn't get on your nerves - we promise!

You can hear the full playlist on Spotify over here (it's over 7 hours long!) but for now, we want to introduce to you our top 10 Christmas tracks.

1. December 25, Sloan

If you ever need to win an argument that Christmas songs are not just for Christmas, this is the ace up your sleeve. It's a perfect indie rock track that just happens to be about Christmas too.

2. The Christmas Song, The Raveonettes

There are two versions of this song, both are great but I could listen to the original (it's a bit faster) over and over and over again. And so I do.

3. Just Like Christmas, Low

This Scandinavian road trip track whisks us away to the northern hemisphere and the romance of a white Christmas.

4. Soulful Christmas, James Brown

The godfather of soul spreads some Christmas cheer!

5. Christmas in Hollis, Run DMC

This one is maybe most famous for its appearance in the best Christmas movie of all time Die Hard. "It's Christmastime and we got the spirit." Yes, they do.

6. Ain't No Chimneys in the Projects, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings

Probably the best track from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings' soul filled album It's a Holiday Soul Party, but we recommend the whole thing for some chilled, toe tapping vibes.

7. Another Christmas at Home, Eux Autres

There's something infectiously festive about this track, the tempo, the talk of Champagne, the jingling bells.

8. Boxing Day Blues (Revisited), Courtney Barnett

Not technically about Christmas, but the simile of a Christmas tree on Boxing Day is genius.

9. A Great Big Sled, The Killers

The Killers are total professionals who bring their majestic brand of rock to the festive season with this polished track.

10. Run Run Rudolph, She & Him

Our list would not be complete without some She & Him - they have two full length Christmas albums that deserve to be in your collection. But this cover of Chuck Berry's 1958 Christmas classic is the best for adding some variety into your playlist.
